Second Wave Wellness was born out of an online exclusive telehealth counseling practice. It’s what people want. It fits most everyone’s lifestyle both young and old. If you’re not familiar with the terms online counseling or therapy it goes by many names, including e-therapy, telehealth, online sessions, internet coaching, video therapy.
What is Teletherapy, Telehealth or Online Counseling?
Essentially, by being a telehealth exclusive practice I get to meet with you in the comfort of whatever private space you have. You see me and I see you (Hi!) your dog can sit on your lap during the session. If you have ever used Skype or Facetime it is similar. I have completed additional online specific trainings and have made every effort to provide clients with a secure and private patient portal that includes a video portal for individual, couple and group sessions.
Your privacy is my priority. All services are conducted via a HIPAA compliant platform.
The choice to be telehealth or online counseling exclusive was what I like to call an intentional necessity and has been an amazing experience for my clients. Particularly clients who live far away from where I practice in Long Beach, New York but are in search of a therapist who gets it and has the training, skills, reputation, and compassion to back it up. By providing online counseling or telehealth I can see clients who reside anywhere in the state of New York, Florida and some overseas countries. Great for those who travel often, bicoastal retires, college students who want a New York therapist. Perfect for Ex-Pats or someone who has relocated to another country to live temporality.
Often clients report barriers when attending traditional in office face to face therapy sessions, such as:
- Transportation access (including costs, vehicle dependability)
- Caregiver responsibilities (including eldercare, childcare, and partner care)
- Accessibility (including physical limitations, mental health limitations)
- Convenience (squeezing in a session during lunch hour)
- Moving or Relocating ( I’m licensed in New York and Florida)
- Natural disasters (communicating with your provider when you most need it)
Online Counseling reduces the number of barriers to getting the care you are seeking. Contact me for a 20-minute consult where we can explore how I can best help you.
